Avon IM&T Information Governance training
Ideal and the Information Governance Unit at the Avon IM&T Consortium have entered a new partnership enabling in house delivery of informatics vocational awards in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
The Avon IM&T NHS Consortium is the latest NHS provider to use CIS UCQ to support in house quality assured training delivery on Information Governance.
The consortium is a shared service supporting Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset PCTs. The provision of Information Management and Technology supports clinicians in delivering patient care through improved access to information services, inter-organisational working and maximising use of time and resources.
By working in partnership with Ideal, the Avon IM&T Consortium has achieved rigorous standards to attain CIS UCQ status. This was achieved through their business processes and their own training delivery, using a blend of tutor led training and elearning. By mapping local standards to CIS and coupling with role based competency assessment, the consortium can now offer the recognised award.
The consortium has just completed its first training programme with seven healthcare staff successfully achieving the eHealth essentials module on Information Governance. This module is approved by the NHS and the Royal College of Nursing.
Adam Tuckett, Head of Information Governance at the Avon IM&T Consortium commented, "AIMTC are delighted to partner with Ideal which has ensured our education and training delivery is measured against quality criteria and standards vital to delivering the CIS UCQ. We are using and ectively promoting the CIS module on Information Governance as part of our blended training solution in order to ensure high levels of knowledge for staff with key responsibilities for handling personal data. We feel it is a fundamental part of managing and reducing risks such as confidentiality breach or data losses, particularly for the multidisciplinary teams which we support to share and manage large qualtities of sensitive personal data."
Becky Pollard, Caldicott Guardian at North Somerset Primary Care Trust added, "The way we hold and share information about our patients is paramount to their holistic care treatment. CIS provides a way of accurately measuring that multidisciplinary staff working in our organisation have gained the practical knowledge and skills to ensure that we use information responsibly, encouraging patients to feel safe in our hands."
Andrew Raynes, Director of Education Quality and Accreditation at Ideal explains, "We are delighted that the Avon IM&T Consortium complies with our standards for delivering modules from the CIS UCQ demonstrating their commitment to high organisational and training standards. We are required to show evidence of exceptionally high quality standards of management processes, procedures and service delivery. We look forward to continuing to work with the consortium throughout their CIS UCQ project."
