Information Governance awards for health professionals in North Somerset
The Avon IM & T Consortium in Bristol has issued over 40 awards in Information Governance to learners in North Somerset through an innovative educational partnership with Ideal.
Multi disciplinary health care workers in North Somerset have been awarded Certificates in Information Governance following the requirement from the DH for increasing compliance at level 2 and 3 with the national IG toolkit. Learners who have successfully achieved the passmark include Nurses, Health Visitors , Care assistants, Risk Managers, Analysts and IM & T Trainers who have achieved the award as part of a targeted training strategy to raise awareness amidst a back drop of healthcare changes and demand for IT interoperability.
To gain the CIS UCQ Award in Information Governance learners have built up their learning by undertaking appropriate modules of the IG toolkit followed by a short training session provided by the AIMTC concluding with an assessment. The award is issued in conjunction with Ideal and the National Awarding Body NCFE and is now recognised by seven universities nationally which offer learning pathways to successful candidates.
The AIMTC has continued to gain support from the Caldicott Guardian whose commitment to staff development through quality assured training drives up business benefits including raised awareness, better risk management and quality information for commissioners.
Adam Tuckett, Head of Information Governance at Avon IM&T explained, "The learners have demonstrated real understanding of the IG agenda. We are committed to working in partnership with Ideal to provide a blend of educational opportunities appropriate to the needs of our community and which enable access to flexible awards which appropriately support learner progression’’
Andrew Raynes, Director of Education, Quality and Accreditation at Ideal commented, "We are delighted with the results at the AIMTC which show how high quality training can encourage an information aware community."
