Ideal and West Midlands strategic Health Authority are working in partnership to deliver a seminar on Business process re-engineering and Lean techniques on 26 January 2010 at Osprey House in Redditch.

The seminar has been designed for clinical and non clinical managers across the business.  The overall objective is to explore the concept that Lean Sigma can be the way forward to improve patient care and simultaneously achieve mandated cost reductions.

Delegates will be led through a brief sequence of awareness learning.  The aim is to illustrate how Lean Sigma can be used pragmatically to make substantial cost savings, whilst not compromising but improving patient care.

We will start by providing examples of how various non health industry sectors have adapted Lean Sigma in recent years to achieve incredible efficiency and effectiveness improvements.  Following this, we will go on to explore the challenges faced when using trditional management methods to achieve targets.

The concept of Lean thinking will be introduced through an interactive case study based around urgent care.  We will finish with examples of results achieved in the healthcare sector in the UK and around the world.

The seminar will close looking at the identification of business critical processes.  This will cover a case study on the facilitation of critical business identification workshops, to cover the processes that are either too diverse or of insufficient volume to warrant huge focus from Lean or Six Sigma.
