Ideal has recently gained RCN accreditationfor three training courses within the CIS UCQ accreditation framework through meeting RCN Accreditation Unit professional standards.

Ideal began discussions with the RCN at the end of last year to accredit three of its training courses which provide essential user training for nurses in the use of new technology to improve patient care.  Following its rigorous assessment, the RCN Accreditation Unit confirmed that Ideal has met its quality standards.

The modules help encourage nursing professionals to attend important information governance and health care systems training.  As they are accredited, they enable nursing staff to undertake learning which is relevant to their roles while maintaining their commitment to continuing professional development.

Mary O'Donoghue from the RCN accreditation unit said “We are delighted that Ideal has achieved accreditation for their modules in Information Governance, Cerner Millennium and RiO.”

Ideal's certification programme CIS UCQ is also endorsed by the NHS.

Healthcare professionals who successfully complete the accredited Ideal courses are eligible to receive and RCN certificate detailing the number of study hours to support their continuing professional development.

Chris Brimble, CEO at Ideal, explains, “We are delighted that this accreditation reflects Ideal's commitment to delivering health centric education, training and development programmes to frontline NHS staff.  This is especially relevant now, in light of the recent report on the future of nursing and midwifery, where a main recommendation was for nursing and midwifery capacity to understand and influence the development and use of the new technologies.”

Andrew Raynes, Director of Education, Quality and Accreditation at Ideal, explains, “CIS UCQ is vital for ensuring the benefits of new technology are realised through competency based learning.  We are keen to support nursing as well as other professionals working in health and social care, and that their use of information and information technology supports informed decision making and high quality care.  We hope our accreditation from the RCN demonstrates our commitment to professional development and lifelong learning.”
