Health Systems Training

The importance of effective training for EPR programme success

To realise the benefits from a new EPR system implementation, staff need role-based training that embeds both processes and system. Training is the vital link that enables the transition and change in working practises.

The logistics of an EPR training programme are highly complex. Insufficient and incomplete user training can slow down the adoption of a new system and adversely affect clinical care and data quality.

Evidence has shown that when Trusts invest in appropriate role training at the project’s outset, less time and money is wasted, training is more effective and end users feel engaged and ready at Go-Live and beyond.

How Ideal can help

Ideal works in partnership with Trusts to plan and implement training programmes tailored to match their needs.

Our training methodology has been developed over multiple EPR training projects and is therefore based on practical experience. We share best practice and bring lessons learnt from other successful deployments to reduce EPR programme risks & costs and to ensure a safe Go Live.

Ideal provides experienced health systems trainers who can work with you as part of an outsourced delivery team or to supplement your in-house team. We provide training support on most major health systems including; Cerner, Epic, Medway, Allscripts, Intersystems, TPP and RiO.

In addition to instructor led training, Ideal can provide an eLearning solution that adds flexibility to the normal mix of classroom training and supporting documentation.

Ideal are also advocates of a comprehensive and effective Champion User/SuperUser training programme. By investing in the staff, the Trust will not only ensure that the Trust has the skills available to support a safe Go-Live but that the skills will remain within the Trust once the training has ended. This will ensure that there are strong supporters of the new system providing ongoing promotion and advancement of the new system.

As one of our core services, we have been involved in a large number of health systems projects over the past 10 years supporting many Acute, Community and Mental Health Trusts.

Ideal’s proven training methodology reduces both programme risk and costs enabling Trusts to benefit from an effective training programme which leads to a more successful system implementation.

Our experienced health systems trainers have worked on multiple health systems training projects and have extensive knowledge of patient pathways and RTT. They all have NHS training experience and specific expertise to assist areas such as Outpatients, Inpatients, A&E, Maternity and Theatres.

Our trainers are:

  • Specialist Clinical system trainers
  • RTT Trainers (embedding System, RTT and Process)
  • High quality experienced EPR trainers who have worked with us on multiple projects

Based at your premises our trainers can fully immerse themselves in your culture, understand your Trust policies and workflows and provide a high quality training service that best suits your needs.

Ideal has the ability to flex the supply of Trainers as the project demands (up,down, pause) thereby significantly reducing the costs of maintaining an in-house training team.

In addition to instructor led training, Ideal can provide an eLearning solution that adds flexibility to the normal mix of classroom training and supporting documentation.

As advocates of a blended learning solution Ideal have a number of talented eLearning developers with NHS experience that we can call upon to support and enhance your project training delivery requirements.

Not only are the resulting modules tailored to meet your Trust’s specific requirements but we are able to host the files on our LMS platform if required, enabling staff to access the modules both in the Trust and from home where necessary, without the need for a VPN solution.
